Job Description

Room Eight is a start-up, providing a fun and exciting interactive experience in the form of Escape Rooms, the latest craze to hit Sydney, having enjoyed huge successes in Europe and the US in recent years. 

An escape room is an interactive activity where a team of players needs to “escape the room,” within a given timeframe. Our rooms require the team to work together to complete a series of puzzles and challenges in sixty minutes or less.

Room Eight offers three Escape Rooms with different themes and goals. Our rooms encourage logical thinking and problem solving, and are designed to engage and challenge adults and children 13 and over.



What are we looking for?

Room Eight is looking for charismatic individuals that are passionate about games and customer service.


Someone passionate about the game and interested and being part of a quickly growing business.

Start as a casual and become a part timer as demand and business grow.


Your work hours are flexible and will vary, depending on client bookings. 

Currently, the business operates from 11:45am until 11:30pm, 7 days a week (Monday to Sunday including Public holidays) depending on bookings. 

A minimum of 16 hours per week (more is preferable) will be required at the venue. Your hours to be allocated to the highest demand times while still giving you a high degree of flexibility around the hours.

Essential duties and responsibilities

  • Work closely with directors to foster memorable player experiences, endeavouring to turn players into business advocates

  • Perform all required tasks professionally

  • Effectively prioritise daily business activities

  • Greet and brief players on the games and house rules prior to the start of the game

  • Continually monitor and, when necessary, engage players during game sessions

  • Ensure all players adhere to gaming rules and regulations

  • Monitor, evaluate and report the in-game experience for ongoing improvement of customer experience and the health of the game

  • Debrief players after game sessions and post a group photo to the relevant social media platform(s)

  • Prepare and maintain game rooms to detailed standards between bookings – cleaning and resetting the room with a high degree of attention to detail

  • Respond to customer enquiries – email, phone and walk-ins

  • Respond in a timely manner to all customer service issues

  • Monitor and manage bookings

  • Assist with scheduling and maintaining a staff roster, based on business needs

About you

  • Escape room enthusiast - having played our rooms is an advantage!

  • Outstanding customer service - real experience in a customer facing role is a must.

  • Being outgoing and extroverted is highly regarded

  • Able to tell a story with conviction and tone

  • Great writing skills

  • Excellent communication and facilitation to deliver a memorable player experience

  • Problem solving and attention to detail

  • Organisation and prioritisation

  • Ability to judge when escalation is required

  • Basic knowledge of applications such as Word, Excel and Social Media

  • Interest in games, puzzles and enigmas is a must

  • Reasonable math skills

  • Charisma and sense of humour is an advantage

  • Languages other than English is an advantage

  • Handy with tools is highly regarded 

  • Any knowledge of electronics (Arduino) is an advantage
