Escape This took over Room Eight Escape Rooms in 2022 and changed the sign above 2B The Corso in stages. Here is how it happened, and which rooms made the journey.
In short: Escape This bought Room Eight Escape Rooms at 2B The Corso in 2022, traded under the Room Eight name for a year, then co-branded, and became Escape This Manly when its Sydney CBD venue opened in 2024; Manly now shares Sydney CBD’s management. The Dunny and Entombed survive from the Room Eight line-up; Hitman left Manly in December 2025, and Buried Alive and The Wizard’s Chamber went to George Street instead.
Room Eight Escape Rooms opened in 2019 as an independent escape room business at 2B The Corso, opposite Manly Wharf. In 2022 Escape This bought it from its previous operators.
The change was gradual. For its first year under Escape This the venue kept trading as Room Eight; it then ran under both names; and when Escape This opened its Sydney CBD venue on George Street in 2024, the Corso shopfront became Escape This Manly in full.
During the summer of 2025 every room on The Corso was completely refurbished and upgraded. Hitman was retired in January 2026 to make way for Magic School, which Escape This says has become one of its most popular rooms.
Today Escape This Manly shares its management team with Escape This Sydney CBD and is Escape This’s home on the Northern Beaches. The address, the phone number and two of the original rooms carried straight over, rebuilt.

Five escape rooms appear on the old site. Two still play in Manly. The other three are not playable in Manly; the right-hand column shows where Escape This’s booking system has them now.

People still search for Room Eight, and old links and reviews still point to escaperoomeight.com.au. Keeping the address and sending it to the current venue means those searches land on the right rooms, prices and booking times.
Each page of the old site is set to forward to its closest match here, from the old Hitman page to this history.
Escape This does. Escape This is Australia’s largest escape room operator, and runs its own escape room design studio and escape room factory in Australia. Manly is one of its two Sydney venues; the other, Escape This Sydney CBD, is on George Street in the city.
Room Eight Escape Rooms opened in 2019, and Escape This bought it from its previous operators in 2022. The venue kept the Room Eight name for its first year under Escape This, then traded under both names, and became Escape This Manly in full when Escape This opened its Sydney CBD venue in 2024. It is still at 2B The Corso.
Yes. Escape This completely refurbished and upgraded every room at Escape This Manly during the summer of 2025, so The Dunny and Entombed run on rebuilt sets. In January 2026 Hitman was retired and its space went to Magic School, the newest room on The Corso.
Escape This Manly is run by the same management team as Escape This Sydney CBD on George Street, and it is Escape This’s venue on the Northern Beaches. Escape This, which bought the former Room Eight Escape Rooms in 2022, is Australia’s largest escape room operator and runs its own escape room design studio and escape room factory in Australia.
Two are. The Dunny and Entombed were both on the old Room Eight site and both still run at Escape This Manly. Hitman, the third, retired from Manly in January 2026, and Magic School took its place.
The old Room Eight site suggests so. The Dunny’s page sat at an address ending “indisposed-escaperoom”, and a blogger’s review on its media page called the room Indisposed. Hitman’s page address ended “targeted-escaperoom”, and the room was headed Targeted. Escape This Manly uses the current names only.
No. Hitman’s Manly room was retired in January 2026, after 204 recorded games. The assassins’ lift is still running at Escape This Perth CBD, under Hay Street Mall, which is the only place ER-OS lists it as playing.
No. The old Room Eight site announced Buried Alive for Manly in December 2023, but Escape This’s booking system has never listed it there. It opened in Sydney at Escape This Sydney CBD, 630 George Street, in March 2025, and still plays there.
In the city. The Room Eight site promised The Wizard’s Chamber to Manly, but ER-OS has never run it there. In Sydney it plays at Escape This Sydney CBD on George Street, open since October 2024. What Manly got is Magic School, its sequel.
No. The Packhunts — The Buckens, The Crooked Eight and Mindcraft — were outdoor phone-led hunts around Manly that started and finished at Room Eight. Escape This’s booking system carried them until August 2024 and no longer offers them. Escape This Manly is now indoor escape rooms only.
No. The monthly singles sessions on the old Room Eight site mixed strangers into teams, and Escape This Manly now books every room privately for one group. If you are short of players, a two-person booking works in any of the Manly rooms.
