## Common questions
- [What is Escape This Manly?](https://www.escaperoomeight.com.au/faq/#manly-what-is-it): Escape This Manly is the escape room venue at 2B The Corso, Manly, across the road from the ferry terminal. It runs 3 private rooms — Entombed, The Dunny and Magic School — each 60 minutes long for groups of 2 to 6. The same shopfront traded as Room Eight Escape Rooms on its old website.
- [Which escape rooms can you play in Manly right now?](https://www.escaperoomeight.com.au/faq/#manly-which-rooms): As of 25 October 2026, Escape This Manly runs 3: Entombed (ancient egypt adventure), The Dunny (outback adventure), Magic School (wizarding adventure). The list on this site comes straight from Escape This’s booking system, so a new room shows up here as soon as it can be booked.
- [Is there an escape room near Manly Wharf?](https://www.escaperoomeight.com.au/faq/#manly-near-wharf): Yes. Escape This Manly sits at the harbour end of The Corso, at number 2B, directly opposite the Manly ferry terminal. Step off the boat, cross the road and you are at the door; the beach end of The Corso is roughly a hundred metres further on.
- [Who runs the escape rooms at 2B The Corso?](https://www.escaperoomeight.com.au/faq/#manly-who-runs-it): Escape This does. Escape This is Australia’s largest escape room operator, and runs its own escape room design studio and escape room factory in Australia. Manly is one of its two Sydney venues; the other, Escape This Sydney CBD, is on George Street in the city.
- [Has Escape This Manly, or the company behind it, won any awards?](https://www.escaperoomeight.com.au/faq/#manly-operator-award): Yes, both. Back when it traded as Room Eight Escape Rooms, the venue at 2B The Corso earned a 2019 Tripadvisor Travellers’ Choice award. Escape This, which runs it today, was named Escape Room Operator of the Year by APAC Insider in 2025 and again in 2026; that one recognises the operator across all its venues, not a single Manly room.
- [Do you get a room to yourselves at Escape This Manly?](https://www.escaperoomeight.com.au/faq/#manly-private-rooms): You do. Every booking at Escape This Manly is private to your group, so nobody you don’t know is added to fill the spare places. If your group is bigger than one room allows, the answer is a second room at the same start time, not strangers.
- [What happened to Room Eight Escape Rooms in Manly?](https://www.escaperoomeight.com.au/faq/#room-eight-what-happened): Room Eight Escape Rooms opened in 2019, and Escape This bought it from its previous operators in 2022. The venue kept the Room Eight name for its first year under Escape This, then traded under both names, and became Escape This Manly in full when Escape This opened its Sydney CBD venue in 2024. It is still at 2B The Corso.
- [Have the Manly escape rooms been updated since the Room Eight days?](https://www.escaperoomeight.com.au/faq/#manly-rooms-refurbished): Yes. Escape This completely refurbished and upgraded every room at Escape This Manly during the summer of 2025, so The Dunny and Entombed run on rebuilt sets. In January 2026 Hitman was retired and its space went to Magic School, the newest room on The Corso.
- [Who runs Escape This Manly now?](https://www.escaperoomeight.com.au/faq/#room-eight-who-runs-it): Escape This Manly is run by the same management team as Escape This Sydney CBD on George Street, and it is Escape This’s venue on the Northern Beaches. Escape This, which bought the former Room Eight Escape Rooms in 2022, is Australia’s largest escape room operator and runs its own escape room design studio and escape room factory in Australia.
- [Are any of the Room Eight rooms still playing at Escape This Manly?](https://www.escaperoomeight.com.au/faq/#room-eight-same-rooms): Two are. The Dunny and Entombed were both on the old Room Eight site and both still run at Escape This Manly. Hitman, the third, retired from Manly in January 2026, and Magic School took its place.
- [Did the Room Eight rooms have different names?](https://www.escaperoomeight.com.au/faq/#room-eight-old-names): The old Room Eight site suggests so. The Dunny’s page sat at an address ending “indisposed-escaperoom”, and a blogger’s review on its media page called the room Indisposed. Hitman’s page address ended “targeted-escaperoom”, and the room was headed Targeted. Escape This Manly uses the current names only.
- [Can you still play Hitman at Escape This Manly?](https://www.escaperoomeight.com.au/faq/#room-eight-hitman): No. Hitman’s Manly room was retired in January 2026, after 204 recorded games. The assassins’ lift is still running at Escape This Perth CBD, under Hay Street Mall, which is the only place ER-OS lists it as playing.
- [Was Buried Alive ever in Manly, as the Room Eight site said?](https://www.escaperoomeight.com.au/faq/#room-eight-buried-alive): No. The old Room Eight site announced Buried Alive for Manly in December 2023, but Escape This’s booking system has never listed it there. It opened in Sydney at Escape This Sydney CBD, 630 George Street, in March 2025, and still plays there.
- [Where did The Wizard’s Chamber end up instead of Manly?](https://www.escaperoomeight.com.au/faq/#room-eight-wizards-chamber): In the city. The Room Eight site promised The Wizard’s Chamber to Manly, but ER-OS has never run it there. In Sydney it plays at Escape This Sydney CBD on George Street, open since October 2024. What Manly got is Magic School, its sequel.
- [Does Escape This Manly still run the Packhunt scavenger hunts?](https://www.escaperoomeight.com.au/faq/#room-eight-packhunts): No. The Packhunts — The Buckens, The Crooked Eight and Mindcraft — were outdoor phone-led hunts around Manly that started and finished at Room Eight. Escape This’s booking system carried them until August 2024 and no longer offers them. Escape This Manly is now indoor escape rooms only.
- [Are Room Eight’s singles nights still on at Escape This Manly?](https://www.escaperoomeight.com.au/faq/#room-eight-singles): No. The monthly singles sessions on the old Room Eight site mixed strangers into teams, and Escape This Manly now books every room privately for one group. If you are short of players, a two-person booking works in any of the Manly rooms.
- [Which Manly room is best for a family with primary-school kids?](https://www.escaperoomeight.com.au/faq/#manly-best-for-kids): All 3 rooms at Escape This Manly carry the same 9+ guide, so any of them works. Magic School has the highest escape rate at the venue (98%), which makes it the gentlest bet, while Entombed is the one Escape This singles out as popular with children’s groups.
- [Which room at Escape This Manly has the lowest escape rate?](https://www.escaperoomeight.com.au/faq/#manly-hardest-room): The Dunny. As of 25 October 2026, 94% of 814 recorded teams have escaped it, against 96% for Entombed and 98% for Magic School. Escape This Manly only ranks rooms with 100 or more games.
- [Can we play all the Manly rooms in one visit?](https://www.escaperoomeight.com.au/faq/#manly-three-in-a-day): Yes, if you book consecutive sessions. Each Escape This Manly room takes 60 minutes plus about 15 minutes either side for the briefing and the debrief, so all 3 back to back is an afternoon. Splitting a bigger group across the rooms at the same start time is quicker.
- [Which Escape This Manly room should a first-time team try?](https://www.escaperoomeight.com.au/faq/#manly-first-timers): Magic School has the lowest difficulty rating of the three (6 out of 10, against 7 for Entombed and The Dunny) and 98% of its teams escape. Escape This also calls Entombed a popular choice for beginners, so either is a safe opener at Escape This Manly.
- [Are any of the Escape This Manly rooms frightening?](https://www.escaperoomeight.com.au/faq/#manly-scary): Not in the way the horror rooms are. Escape This Manly runs adventures only: Magic School has mild spooky moments, The Dunny’s page warns of possible jump scares, and Entombed leans on mystery. The 18+ horror rooms are at Escape This Sydney CBD on George Street, not in Manly.
- [Entombed or The Dunny: which suits a group better?](https://www.escaperoomeight.com.au/faq/#manly-dunny-vs-entombed): Pick by mood. Entombed is a detective story with Egyptian treasure in a lamplit study; The Dunny is a comic outback survival game in a locked outhouse. Both are rated 7 out of 10 at Escape This Manly, but more teams get out of Entombed (96%) than The Dunny (94%).
- [What is the Entombed escape room in Manly about?](https://www.escaperoomeight.com.au/faq/#entombed-what-is-it): Entombed casts your team as a private investigator in Cairo, hired by the widow of the vanished archaeologist Dr Smith. You search his study for proof of his death or the treasure of Khufu he was chasing, and a pharaoh’s spirit objects. You have 60 minutes at Escape This Manly.
- [Who is Dr Smith in Entombed?](https://www.escaperoomeight.com.au/faq/#entombed-dr-smith): Dr Smith is the missing archaeologist at the centre of Entombed. He disappeared while hunting the lost treasure of Khufu, left a frantic final letter, and his widow cannot claim the insurance without proof he is dead. His study is the room you are locked in.
- [How hard is Entombed at Escape This Manly?](https://www.escaperoomeight.com.au/faq/#entombed-difficulty): Escape This rates Entombed 7 out of 10, the same as The Dunny. In practice it is kinder than the score suggests: 96% of 945 recorded Manly teams have escaped, with an average winning time of 50:56 and about 5 clues used.
- [Is Entombed too spooky for children?](https://www.escaperoomeight.com.au/faq/#entombed-kids): Generally no. Entombed has a pharaoh’s curse and some dim lighting, but no smoke, crawling or tight spaces, and Escape This says it is a favourite with children’s groups. The guide age is 9; children from 7 can play as paid members of a family group with an adult in the room.
- [Does the Perth CBD build of Entombed play differently from the Manly one?](https://www.escaperoomeight.com.au/faq/#entombed-perth-different): Same story, different build. Entombed at Escape This Manly takes 2–6 players with a 9+ guide and no crawling. The Perth CBD version takes up to eight, is strictly 13+, includes a crawl space and is wheelchair accessible. Each keeps its own leaderboard.
- [Does Entombed have its own website?](https://www.escaperoomeight.com.au/faq/#entombed-own-site): No. Entombed’s home on the web is this page on the Escape This Manly site, which carries its story, live escape rate, record times, reviews and booking. Escape This’s own site also has a booking page for each Entombed venue.
- [How quickly has a team ever got out of Entombed on The Corso?](https://www.escaperoomeight.com.au/faq/#entombed-record): 25:14, by a team of 4 on 10 October 2026. That is the quickest Entombed time ER-OS holds for Escape This Manly as of 25 October 2026; the full top five is on this page.
- [How much does an escape room at Escape This Manly cost?](https://www.escaperoomeight.com.au/faq/#manly-price): Prices at Escape This Manly start from $49 per player in the booking system, for each of Entombed, The Dunny and Magic School. The price changes with the day and time, so the booking widget shows the exact figure for each session before you pay.
- [How do you book a room at Escape This Manly?](https://www.escaperoomeight.com.au/faq/#manly-how-to-book): Use the live booking widget on this site: pick the room, the day and a session, and the booking is confirmed straight away. Escape This Manly also takes bookings by phone on (02) 9173 8535 if you would rather talk it through.
- [How many players can Escape This Manly take at once?](https://www.escaperoomeight.com.au/faq/#manly-group-size): Each room at Escape This Manly takes 2 to 6 players, so with all 3 rooms booked at the same start time the venue can host up to 18 people. Groups that need more than one room are best planned through Escape This’s team-building site.
- [Can I buy a gift voucher for Escape This Manly?](https://www.escaperoomeight.com.au/faq/#manly-gift-voucher): Yes. Escape This gift vouchers can be bought online and, according to Escape This, can be redeemed at any of its venues for any of its experiences, so a voucher for a Manly room also works in the Sydney CBD or interstate.
- [Does Escape This Manly host work events and Christmas parties?](https://www.escaperoomeight.com.au/faq/#manly-work-events): Yes. The old Room Eight site ran team-building and Christmas party pages, and Escape This now handles group and corporate bookings for Manly through Team Escapes, which can split a team across all the rooms at once and suggest a format.
- [How do you get to Escape This Manly by ferry?](https://www.escaperoomeight.com.au/faq/#manly-ferry): Take a Manly ferry from Circular Quay; Escape This says services leave from Wharves 2 and 3 and the crossing takes about 20 minutes. Escape This Manly is directly across the road from the Manly ferry terminal, so it is the shortest walk on the trip.
- [Where do you park for Escape This Manly?](https://www.escaperoomeight.com.au/faq/#manly-parking): Street parking near The Corso is limited, so Escape This points drivers to Manly’s council car parks, with Whistler Street the closest to Escape This Manly. The council publishes live space counts for its car parks online.
- [Which buses go near Escape This Manly?](https://www.escaperoomeight.com.au/faq/#manly-bus): Escape This lists the Chatswood to Manly bus from the west, Palm Beach to Manly and the Warringah Mall services from the north, and a weekday Wynyard to Manly service from the city. Manly Council’s free Hop, Skip and Jump bus covers nearby suburbs such as Fairlight and Balgowlah.

- [What are the age rules at Escape This Manly?](https://www.escaperoomeight.com.au/faq/#manly-age-rules): Every Escape This Manly room is guided at 9+. Under-3s may watch at staff discretion.
- [Is Escape This Manly wheelchair accessible?](https://www.escaperoomeight.com.au/faq/#manly-wheelchair): Not at present. Escape This lists all of the current Manly rooms — Entombed, The Dunny and Magic School — as not wheelchair accessible. Its Sydney CBD venue on George Street has rooms that can take one wheelchair per session; call (02) 9173 8535 to match a room to your needs.
- [Do the Escape This Manly rooms involve crawling, smoke or tight spaces?](https://www.escaperoomeight.com.au/faq/#manly-comfort): No. Escape This lists no crawling, no tight spaces and no smoke effects for Entombed, The Dunny or Magic School, which makes Escape This Manly a sound choice for pregnant players, people with asthma and the claustrophobic. All three use controlled lighting.
- [Can you get out of an Escape This Manly room before the hour is up?](https://www.escaperoomeight.com.au/faq/#manly-leave-early): Yes. Every room at Escape This Manly has a panic button that opens the way out, and staff watch each game on CCTV. Escape This also turns away anyone who arrives under the influence, so leave the beers for after the game.
- [Do visitors need good English for Escape This Manly?](https://www.escaperoomeight.com.au/faq/#manly-english): Some. The Escape This Manly rooms involve a moderate amount of English reading and the clues are spoken, so Escape This suggests most of the team should be comfortable in English. A group can manage with one strong reader sharing the load.
